LEGACY FILMS

Websters defines the word legacy to mean “the long-lasting impact of events, actions, etc. that took place in the past, or of a person’s life.” At Dokument we provide a service to preserve those events, actions and especially the etc. as a film. We work closely with our families to understand what they hope to create, learn and ultimately leave for their loved ones as an oral and visual history to be passed on for generations to come.

The Process

We conduct pre-interviews over the phone to help us find the thread that we use to stitch together the story. Then based on availability of “the cast”, we hit the road conducting interviews and shooting contextual footage. From there we move onto the editing process. Utilizing what we shot and any archival imagery such as home movies and photographs that are available, we spend the next few weeks cutting together the movie. In the end we have emotionally driven accounts of friendship, love, loss and plenty of laughter. Like life itself.
